My Values: A Path to Authentic Living
In a world that asks us to conform, one of the most powerful journeys we can embark on is the journey inward. Understanding ourselves—our beliefs, motivations, and values—allows us to be more meaningfully in the world. Greater self-awareness helps us grounds us, it helps us relate better to others, and it helps focus our lives towards meaningful impact. Without self-awareness, we risk moving through life in a reactive state, influenced by external pressures rather than our inner truth.
Our values are the foundation of who we are. They are the foundation up which we "build our house". When our doing and having aligns to our values, then we find ourselves living a more integrated life; we experience clarity, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. That's why identifying and honoring our core values is essential for living consciously. If we neglect to bring our values into our consciousness, then we risk moving through life aimlessly, disconnected from our true purpose and susceptible to external influences that may not align with our authentic selves.
The Practice of Depth Analysis
To uncover our values, we must go beyond surface-level reflection of what we seem to want and need in any given situation. Depth analysis—a practice of introspection, questioning, and honest assessment—can help us navigate the layers of our beliefs and experiences to reveal what truly matters to us. Working with a coach can deepen this exploration by providing objective guidance, structured reflection, and accountability. A coach helps us uncover blind spots, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop strategies for aligning our lives with our core values.
My values
Through self-reflection, coaching, and mentorship, I have recently explored my core values in greater depth. Below, I share the five values I believe defines how I want to be in the world. I have committed to deepening this exploration by refining my vision and mission statements for better alignment to these values as well as to consistently reflecting on these values as I shape my life, and co-create our world.
